I felt like the movie did a better job of exposing Snow as an unreliable narrator because the audience could literally see his actions. I don't know how it would play if you haven't read the book, though - I found things really interesting, like how the narration tells us Tigris isn't pretty but they cast a really beautiful actress to play her.
