I'm incredibly glad you mentioned The Refusal of Work, because I've never heard of it and now I'm so excited to read it. I read the essay In Praise of Idleness by Bertrand Russell in my early 20s and I've been obsessed with it ever since! Thank you for the head's up about another anti-work book!

I looooove anti-work books! You might also be interested in Work Won't Love You Back by Sarah Jaffe and Make Your Own Job: How the Entrepreneurial Work Ethic Exhausted America by Erik Baker. There's a book version of Bullshit Jobs: A Work Rant but I think the original article hits all the high points.

Thank you for the recs, these look great! I tried to read Bullshit Jobs but I found it hard to get through for some reason. I enjoyed the article though, thanks for linking!

Have you read Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin? It’s not directly about anti-work but it’s very relevant. I loved it.
