I Recently Finished Reading: Just about to finish Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson! Happened to come across the film adaption (pretty charming) last week so I thought it was time.
A Book I Want to Reread: Actually in the middle of re-reading The Vampire Lestat right now and then I'll probably do the next one in the series as well. Not usually a big rereader, maybe I should be though.

Related Book News I've Got My Eye On: Did check out The Vampire Chronicles because of the show so I'm curious to see how they'll adapt the next book I suppose. Not something I usually pay a lot of attention to though.

My All-Time Favorite Book(s): Hm. Let's see. Fair Play by Tove Jansson and The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender come to mind. Just tracked down a copy of an out-of-print book I loved when I was very young which is Me and You by Margaret Diehl. No idea how it will hold up for me yet though!
My Favorite Book Genre(s): I tend to skip around but queer scifi is usually a safe bet for me.
A Book I Recommend in My Favorite Genre(s): The Masquerade series by Seth Dickinson is fun. Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon is a nice one. Been making my way though Octavia Butler's stuff lately as well.

A Book I Don't Recommend in My Favorite Genre(s): I DNF'd Ready Player One (Ernest Cline) and liked but opted not to continue reading the series for The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss) for the same reason: everything interesting about those books derails about halfway through because The Male Protagonist Is Obsessed With A Girl. While Name gets back on track eventually, Cline's prose was not impressive enough for me to want to finish RPO.
A Genre I'm Interested in Trying Out: Tbh I'm happy where I am, genre-wise, though I am always willing to take recs for nonfiction books about science history.

Dealbreaker(s): For books? Probably super stereotypical portrayals of gender roles/dynamics. Gratuitous violence. Edgelordiness. Stylistic choices that make a book inaccessible/impenetrable. Overwhelming lore/worldbuilding. Wow, there are more than I thought! For journals...right-wing rhetoric in either its explicit or more dog whistley forms. Generally I like reading the thoughts of chill, down-to-earth people who are enthusiastic and introspective about their interests and lives. Not saying journaling about other kinds of stuff, or with other kinds of energy, is necessarily a deal-breaker though.

My All-Time Favorite Book(s): Tough to say...the first books I remember *really* making an impression on me were Fahrenheit 451 and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but I haven't revisited them in years. Moby Dick is up there. Also this might sound pretentious but really it's not--Roland Barthes' more autobiographical stuff. Love those books.
My Favorite Book Genre(s): Probably realistic contemporary fiction, big honkin 19th century novels, and more recently, select SFF stuff and the occasional fluffy romance.

I Recently Finished Reading: a short story by Mike Gayle, called The One That Got Away. It wasn't for me. For books, The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknavitch.
A Book I Want to Reread: I'm not much of a re-reader, although I'm sure I have some books I read long ago (in high school or college for example) that maybe I'd like to read again to see if I have a different perspective on it.

I liked Fire From Heaven. I think I read it last year (?) And the only other Renault book I'd read before that was The Last of the Wine. There were occasional jumps in time that were a little jarring to me, and sometimes the war bits were a bit to get through, but overall I thought it was interesting.
