[personal profile] quillpunk posting in [community profile] booknook
Hello, hello! [community profile] booknook is (again) tossing its hat in the ring for [community profile] 3weeks4dreamwidth in the form of a friending meme :D

This is the same meme as last year, as I do not have the brain-space to make a new one, but who knows! You're answers might have changed! You might not have seen the newest entries! You might have completely forgotten to check it out at all, even though you're the admin and you really should have. So let's do this again! <3

Copy and paste the text from the little box below into a new comment on this post. Feel free to remove the questions that aren't relevant for you! (If you want to fill this out in a post somewhere else, you're welcome do so, simply credit [community profile] booknook :D)

Name: Nicole
Pronouns: she/her
Age Group: 40s
Dealbreaker(s): For books? Or People? For books - gratuitous violence or really blatant misogyny or racism (even if it seems somehow "integral" to the plot). However, I do still give most things a try. For people - not keen on interacting with TERFs, racists/bigots, homophobes, transphobes, etc.

I Recently Finished Reading: a short story by Mike Gayle, called The One That Got Away. It wasn't for me. For books, The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknavitch.
A Book I Want to Reread: I'm not much of a re-reader, although I'm sure I have some books I read long ago (in high school or college for example) that maybe I'd like to read again to see if I have a different perspective on it.
Some Published Titles From My To Be Read List: My TBR pile is enormous (thanks to keeping it digitally, which is a blessing and a curse). I do weed it out from time to time, as I tend to select randomly from it, using either the "random" sort on Goodreads or my profile page on StoryGraph (which randomly selects several from your list to show to you and will randomize again on refresh). So StoryGraph shows me:
  • The King of Taksim Square by Emrah Serbes
  • Cher, the Memoir: Part One by Cher
  • Bear Season by Gemma Fairclough
  • What We Forgot to Bury by Marin Montgomery
  • Blondes Prefer Gentlemen by Sheila J. Daly [this looks like an old advice book which would be fodder for my podcast, heh]

A Book Not-Yet-Published I'm Excited About: Hmm, not sure, I don't generally keep up with this.
Related Book News I've Got My Eye On: (adaptations etc.) See above. Bad librarian, I guess (but I don't work with the public, so I'm in the clear)!

My All-Time Favorite Book(s): Anne of Green Gables
My Favorite Book Genre(s): I like quite a few genres. I enjoy memoirs/autobiographies/biographies, creative non-fiction, and true crime the best, probably.
A Book I Recommend in My Favorite Genre(s): Hmm, this is a tough one.
A Book I Don't Recommend in My Favorite Genre(s): The Philip Roth biography, maybe; recently slogged through all of that, and I don't recommend it for most folks.
A Genre I'm Interested in Trying Out: I try most things at least once!

Link to My Latest Book Review: I'm on Storygraph and Goodreads, but I'm leaning more towards StoryGraph these days. I also post my thoughts on books and other media publicly on my Dreamwidth (everything else is friends-locked).
Link to My Reading Log: The link above goes to my StoryGraph profile.

Books/Genres I'm Interested in Discussing/Chatting About: I just enjoy chatting with bookish people generally!
