I'm with you on the Murderbot Diaries TV show. I love Alexander Skarsgård in other works, but the choice was disappointing. Regardless, I'll still look forward to it.

Oh yeah. Like... from an outside/Doylist view, I can kind of see why they cast a white guy in the lead; it's quite possible the show might not have been greenlit otherwise. Also with Skarsgård on as a producer as well, it seems likely that this might have been a project of his that he wanted to star in from the start.

But from the perspective of the books, where SecUnit notes repeatedly that the average skin color of a human is "mid-brown", it makes no sense to have a generic, cloned-tissue-created construct be white.

I digress. I'm still looking forward to the show, just to see how they go about adapting it. It'll be interesting, if nothing else.

Other than Skarsgård, I'm pretty curious how they will adapt Murderbot's narration. It's pretty integral to the enjoyment of the story.

I'm also kind of concerned because they're apparently only adapting the first novella for the first season, and well. It's a very short story. I'm not sure how are they going to extend this over multiple episodes.
