I'm about 2/3 of the way through Why the Hindenburg Had a Smoking Lounge. There are interesting nuggets here and there, but in a book this length I'd like to see a deeper treatment of the topics, which isn't going to happen because this is a collection of standalone essays. Also I'm noticing some text oddities here and there which look like rushed copyediting.

"Martyr" by Kaveh Akbar for book club! Which is on Friday and I probably won't make it all the way through as I only started yesterday (my own fault).

After having such a bad experience with "The Grapes of Wrath" I'm now following this up with Sanora Babb's "Whose Names are Unknown", which tackles the same topic and was - for this reason - not published until 2002, even though it was also written in the 1930s.

I am very close to finishing The Silver Skull by Les Daniels. It's the second Don Sebastian vampire book and the fact I liked the first is the only reason I'm slogging through on finishing this one.

2026 has been a total bust for me so far. I've DNFed 7 books so far, and trying to work out of its the books or my brain. I think it's a combo of both.

I did just start Endling by Maria Reva and have high hopes for this one. Especially with the killer first sentence of the blurb.

An unforgettable debut novel about the journey of three women and one extremely endangered snail through contemporary Ukraine.

I am halfway through Life Isn't Binary by Meg-John Barker & Alex Iantaffi, which is only in part about nonbinary gender identity and much more about the problems with thinking in polarized dichotomies in general. I'm reading it as a two-person book club with a friend and we're going extremely slowly because every chapter has a lot to chew on.
