We've got some of the same TBRs! I picked up Before We Were Trans after hearing the author interviewed somewhere. I've only read a little by Le Guin, but am trying to fix that this year. I haven't read any of the Locked Tomb books but again, hoping to read at leas the first book soon as I've heard a lot about it and I read somewhere that the final book is due out this year?

It's my understanding that the final Locked Tomb book has had multiple tentative release dates over the last couple of years and it still isn't clear when it's coming out. It seems the series was originally conceived as a trilogy, but what was supposed to be the final book ended up split into two, so possibly Muir has significantly overhauled her plan for how to end it and that's taking a while? The plot of the series is very complex with a large cast and a lot of twists and reveals, so I can imagine it could be challenging to wrap it all up.

I've heard both that it's coming out this year and that it's never coming out. Either way, I figure if I'm every going to try to get into the series, now is the time. I've heard deeply conflicting takes on it.

I am conflicted about it myself! There are things about it I like and things I don't. If you like the first book enough to continue I would recommend not waiting too long to read the others, because Muir does not stop to explain or recap anything and it's easy to get lost.
