Technically, Black Fire by Sonni Cooper out of the Pocket Books line of Star Trek novels. I have read the first page. Anxiety and depression have landed so hard, that I might set it aside, and get an Old Friend (a book I've read hundreds of times) for soothing.

I am re-reading a book before I get into the next two in the trilogy. It's my favourite book from last year, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Highly recommend to sci fi fans! Don't recommend to people who have a phobia of spiders....

I'm about 160 pages into Children of Time! The spiders are very fun, and I like all the sci-fi so far. Eager to read more (just gotta... defeat... the procrastination... flops)

It's super good! Kind of a chonker at 600 pages but it isn't slow paced or anything

Currently reading Out of the Dark by David Weber (this is a re-read so I know all the things---that I remember, which is not all the things, lol), Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky (first read!) and just started Blood Price by Tanya Huff (also a first read!).

Also last Wednesday I was reading The Edge of Heaven by E.M. Lindsey which I never got around to commenting about, lmao, an m/m romance book that I thought was lovely. Recommend! (Also one of the main characters is an astrophysicist who loves space so the book is full of like, romanticizing of space which I thought was very fun to read.)

I’m reading More Than You’ll Ever Know</> by Katie Gutierrez. It’s a Mystery novel with a dual timeline that is kind of ruining the suspense :(

I am a bit over halfway through System Collapse, the most recent Murderbot novella. I'm really enjoying it!

I love the Murderbot series - I've been listening to the audio versions as I haven't been able to find actual physical copies anywhere. I'm having a re-listen before moving on to my latest two acquisitions in the series. I've promised myself that I can listen to Exit Strategy again next once I've finished (or finally given up on) my current listen which isn't going well.

The murderbot series is great! I'm sorry you've had a hard time finding the physical copies, but I'm glad you have the audio versions available! It was hard for me to resist the urge to reread the series this time... I have SUCH a huge TBR pile it's hard to justify a reread of that many books, but the whole series is so good, I definitely need to do a full reread at some point!

I'm sorry you're in the midst of a current listen that is NOT going well... No shame in noping out of a book that just isn't working for you, though. There are so many good books, no need to waste time on ones that aren't to your liking!

This week I'm on a history book about 13th century Europe ! It's interesting but it feels like I'm lacking some basic knowledge to read this [of events, vocabulary, and such] (likely due to it being a book my dad bought when he was studying history, and me not having any schooling on the subject). There's a lot of sources, though, so I can only imagine I'll understand more if I go pick at these as well :)

Hope it's okay to join in as I saw your post on the community promo comm. So I've got a few books on the go at the moment. I'm reading 'Girl Forgotten' by Karin Slaughter - crime and murder, then I've also got an early reviewer copy of 'Children of Heaven' by Billy Wong - fantasy, and then I'm trying to listen to 'Blue Adept' by Piers Anthony which is another fantasy about alternate worlds. I say trying because I struggled a bit with reading the first book, then acquired the audio version of this which is the second in the series, but the narrator's voice is grating so I'm not sure I'm going to be able to finish it.

And ah, it sucks when you're not vibing with the narrators voice :( My sympathies.
