My calendar assures me it's Wednesday again. I'm not sure I buy it but just in case...

What are you reading? 👀

I finished The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett and LOVED IT! The world-building was confusing at first, but once I had an idea of how the world worked? Amazing! I also loved the murder mystery investigation plot and the leviathans :D

Now I'm reading:
- So Let Them Burn by Kamilah Cole and it's not entirely what I expected for a YA Fantasy book! I'm enjoying it quite a bit so far since it focuses on sibling relationships and there are dragons. The writing is pretty easy to get into as well.
- The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden which is Historical/Paranormal set in WWI times. I'm not a fan of the split narrative, but I love Laura's perspective so far. It's so cozy to me in a really weird way lol

I have The Tainted Cup on my TBR, it sounded pretty interesting! Is the pacing good?

I'd say it's a bit slow to start? And then it goes from slow to medium. I personally loved it, so I highly rec it :D

Oooh, I absolutely devoured his City of Stairs trilogy, I might have to add the Tainted Cup onto my TBR sooner rather than later! Especially since it sounds like it has similar vibes.

It does have very similar vibes! I think you'll very much enjoy this if The Divine Cities trilogy was a win for you :D

I'm on Necromancer's Dilemma, third book in the Beacon Hill Sorcerer series. I really like it, but I'll have to see what the series is like after this book. I do want to read the whole series, unless it takes a really bad turn. At least one of the later books in the same world setting involves werewolves

Beacon Hill Sorcerer! I only read the first book of the series and wasn't sure about continuing it. How was book 2?

I liked it! I think her writing is getting better with each book. I really like the dynamic of Angel and Simeon. I think after this book she switches to focusing on another pairing and whether I'm as into to them or not I plan to read through so I can get to the werewolf books and read everything in order.

I found book 1 rough in a few places, but I really liked the ideas and the dynamic so I stuck it out. I'm excited to get to the more recent books

I'd be interested to see what you think if you do. They've put out a lot of books since then

Right now I'm reading a lot of short fiction to get me into the swing of really getting back into reading. I've listed out some of them over here. I have a whole huge list of things I'm making my way through, so we'll see what I pick up next.

I do have a few books out on Libby right now, so I might try and start one of those soon. I'm particularly eyeing, No Gods, No Monsters by Cadwell Turnbull, but we'll see.

I've been reading Heaven Official's Blessing by MXTX. Well, volume one right now. I'm not very far yet, so I'm not super sure what to make of it. It's really hyped for MXTX's work though!

I'll be interested to hear what you think - I've seen a lot of hype over this one and the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation series and have been contemplating trying them.

I'm currently reading The Surviving Sky by Kritika H. Rao. It's not bad so far, but I need to get a bit further in to get a proper handle on it. I really like the worldbuilding from what I've read, and I'm intrigued about where it's gonna go.

After that, my last r/fantasy bingo card book is Elder Race by Adrien Tchaikovsky. I've not read anything by him yet, so I'm looking forward to it!

I'm still reading Girl Forgotten by Karin Slaughter and Soul Music by Terry Pratchett (slight issue with being too tired to make it far through either and falling asleep when I try).

I managed to make it through the audio book I was struggling with last week and Exit Strategy as a reward so now I'm listening to Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson - not loving this as much as I did the Mistborn series. I have The Testaments by Margaret Atwood lined up as my next listen. *I have a copy of Fugitive Telemetry lined up as a reward for finishing anything I'm not enjoying - this will be a first time listen when I get to it*

My next early reviewer read is Vespertine Dreams by Aster Rye - I love the first in the series so am hoping this is as good.

Murderbot! :D I've read the entire series and am thinking of doing an audio reread since I heard they're pretty good.
