Date: 2026-03-05 11:04 pm (UTC)Starting the first volume of the light novel 'The Apothecary Diaries' after hearing a lot about both it and the anime version - enjoying it so far. Our lead Maomao reminds me of Sherlock Holmes in a good way with the the mad science and being aro ace (though those words aren't used, this is a historical set in the Chinese rear palace with hundreds of consorts.) Only 'Holmes' is a teenage girl who was trafficked to work in the palace and her 'Watson' type is a very beautiful and clever eunuch.
